Sphoolin, i used to say exactly the same thing, and rarely do speed. However after i received two fines in the post from mulitnova's i dont remember getting flashed by, i decided to pickup a detector. Luckily one was only 6k's the other was 12 so only 2 demerits and $200 (in total).

Since having the detector but, I have been quite suprised about just how many camera's there actually are!

Agreed. Especially on the way down south... I didn't even see two of them - just the sign after. Lucky the X50 alerted over 600m away

The best thing about the detector is not having to look at the side of the road at all times!!! Speeding or not, i used to have my eyes glued to the side of the road which is pretty damn dangerous!

Ive only just got my new one after some Mandurah scum stole my last one. Going the whole DD period without one really was sucky. I <3 my radar detector

How many of you have actually had one fail? ie, gone through a speed camera @ 100 in a 60 zone?

I would be dark if that's the case .. What kinda of accuracy do these things have, how many false negatives/positives?

Rich, i havent had a detector not pick-up a camera at all yet. Ive had varying degrees of warning ranging from 150m through to 800m, but never has it just not made a sound at all. As far as falses go, you get a lot on K-band due to auto sliding doors on shops etc, but nothing on Ka. But i turn K off round the city anyways, so no dramas for me.

Can't say i've ever not had a warning for multinova's. Lasers, now there another story!

I have had a few false's on KA band however, which is a pain. But would prefer a few falses to a few flashes anyday!

I had the RX65 and switched to the X50 and found a pretty big performance increase. I didn't trust the RX65 after it gave me about 30m warning on a multanova on Mitchell Freeway. Luckily i spotted it before it spotted me!!! The X50 has had a lot of the 'crap' like SWS, Ku Band and voice alerts taken out.

Never had one fail - never had the X50 give me less warning than 100m even in heavy traffic. As for false alerts - Ka Band (multanova band) i've had 3 or 4 false alerts as opposed to well over 30 real ones in the last 6 months or so.

K-Band is a different story where most alerts are false, but i have it off unless i'm doing freeway/highway driving or late at night.
