this will fill the cracks and grain in the timber and will be fine once you apply 3 coats of a marine varnish.

will you get any color differences?

i am not sure bud, you might have to email them.

It should darken the timber a little but other then that i would not know. This is just experience from working at bunnings in the paint section

no worries mate. Cheers guys for all your help. Will try sanding first, hopefully will not loose toomuch timber. Teak is pretty strong and loosing a couple mm off the top should be fine.
