Always wanted the R32 for power, handling, etc; but budget didn't permit, so the GTi was the next option. GTi was awesome, so decided it would be the way to go.

Then out of interest, I took the GT TDi for a test drive. "What the fuck" was the first thing to say - It handled and felt like a GTi. It had plenty of power and bucketloads of torque for a car/engine its size.

With fuel prices going wherever they are going, the TDi was an excellent tradeoff for the R32 and GTi, as well as having similar styling to the R32 (Front grille, similar interior, etc). I liked the GT rims over the GTi as well, but each to their own.

GT TDi is a great option, as it can be upgraded with a $2k reflash for crazy torque

If all else fails, just go to Quattro Motors (the Oettinger distributor in Perth), and get one of their "test drive" tunes...they upload it and it expires after a few hours. If you like, you buy.

Insert credit to maintain your tunes.

If I buy a GTI id most probably buy private, there are some really decent examples going on carsales for really good prices.

A GT cant comment - but in the back of my mind i kep thinking that it just isnt a GTi... even though i havent stepped into it.

The GTi interior is also slightly different to the GT.
