If you dont vacumm the lines first is it like with a 134a that it causes corrosion

nah. if you dont vaccumm the lines. the compressor will be pumping a air/vapour/moisture mix. the oil in refrigeration units aborbs moisture causes all types of crazy shit to happen. also 134a is a gas.

Dont touch Airwell! Ive just gone through a weeks hot weather with no aircond after the reverse cycle ducted system packed it in. It was 3 days out of its 5 year waranty and they wouldnt have any of it. The compressor shat itself and the ealriest they could get the replacement part (which cost just short of $4k!) was April. So after paying about $6900 5 years ago (works out at nearly $1400 per year)
I now have a fooked aircond that cant be fixed!
Luckily house insurance has come to the party and are giving us a cash pay out to the value of the compressor, so we can put that towards a new system. Were going with Fujitsu, and Im hoping like hell it'll last longer than 5 years!!!!!!
