Fords 6 speed shits on Holdens, and its really a sour point to me.
Yeah I was speaking to Karl about that too...when he and I both drove the the VE SS-V test car he had, he noted how much smoother the box was than the Caprice. Weird!

The 6 speed in the Falcon's is amazing though, same as the Jags, etc.

Definitely a trump card over the Holden, although the 6 speed in the VE SS-V that Karl had, and the one in my dads, are both very smooth too.

I've not caught it out yet i.e. unnecessary thunks or clunks whilst kicking down the trans, although I have found a few in my mates BFII XR6T whilst driving it. In general though, the gearshifts in the Ford box are imperceptible and buttery smooth.

That Caprice, and another Ive been in since are both crap. Maybe its the extra weight or tailshaft length?

Lets not even comment on the 4 speeds - more clunks then B0BB0's 1.4 million km ex taxi EL!

Either way, they have nothing on the ZF boxes.

LOL I owned mine for about 3 years (5 speed manual, 3.9ltr FURY! ) and in that time it saw the bad side of 3 trees and countless burnouts and fishies in the wet, so I really shouldn't blame the car too much. I drove the car to the car yard with a snapped caliper (not smart but young and wasn't paying for a tow truck) and no reverse.
Traded it in for a VR 5L Commonwhore (loved this car).

for what they are, affordable dependable transport, the snobs of this world with their euro trash, born again convicts, can suck on my hairy euro ass!

the constant blue vs red is utter bullshit fodder for the bogan's of this world that have nothing better to talk about!

every car has its merits, some better than others but like with anything, in the end you make the car your own!

my father's first job's when he emigrated out to australia all those years ago was at ford's geelong plant. ford's are very much in the landscape of our experience in this country and although im as wog as they come, i have serious pryde for the aussie car!

you should see him when he goes in buying new ones every few years, to the salesperson,

"i help'eda builds dis fuckin thins"
