Default Dude where's my scooter

Hey Pwrx's,

I haven't been on here in yonks.. so it's a shame I'm on here talking about scooters. But I'm thinking about importing one and I wouldn't mind some advice.

I picked up a Milan a year back for a 1k which has been a great buy. Been very handy for getting to work and the quarterly yellow sticker I seem to get. Over Christmas I copped a 1k fine for driving with an expired yellow so I need a reliable second mode of transport.

But the milan's a little too quire even for a metro type like myself. So I'm looking to get an Aprilla Mojito.. yeah pretty masculine name right.. if it were a drink I'd expect it to arrive with an umbrella sticking out of it.

Anyway they don't look too bad and a definite trade up on my current pile of shit.

So now I've spent half a page justifying myself I'll get to the question.

In Oz we only get the 50 and 100, the 100cc costs 6k. In the US they have a 150 and that has a tag price of $3200US (3500AUS) so you don't need to have studied calculus to realise importing might have it's merits.

So what factors should I consider with importing?.. I'm assuming the biggest drama will be registering it. Has anyone imported a bike before?

Another thought I had was to try and find a company that imports American cars to Aus and see if they could ship and comply it?

Any advice appreciated.

Then once I get it in I can start pimping it and grow a handlebar mustache. Not gay at all right?

I was always under the impression that any motorcycle with an engine capacity greater than 50cc requires a minimum of an R-E motorcycle license. If this is the case than just get that and buy a real bike.

if your goin to go to the effort of doin that. anything over 50cc requires a R-E licence. which means if you get the 150cc scooter, your licenced to ride up to a 250cc. dont be woman - get a real bike, there is a awesome honda CBR150RR. 10x more manly than your 150cc scooter and would also be approximatly 7,000,000x more fun than your scooter.

Chris,

My old man has imported a 71 Vette before, Import duties are a killer. Esp if the scooter is sold here which it is. You will pay duties up to the value of one for sale here so you wont save anything, plus you need to remember freight etc..

My cousin is in the industry in The bay area in SF if you do want some help, he could definitely do a lot from his end but you will not save any money that is for sure. As for registering a bike I am sure you would be fine esp from a place like CA which has mega emissions policies etc..

PM me if you want some help and I will see what I can do for you.

Dan

Ya mum tells a different story. Matt I’d take that from just about anyone on here, but from you?.. your like pdiddy’s own purple telli tubby, we all know you’re a raging homo but no one actually says it. Besides this is the same model Jamie Oliver drives.. wait that’s not helping.

I've heard em all, the guys at work created an online dating account with a pic of it.. Another time I went to take a piss, I walk into the dunnies and find it sitting there.. the second floor toilets that is. But the way I see it, I've fucked enough hot chicks not to worry about it.

Dont plan on swapping the main modus transportus to a bike anytime soon so I've got no real ambition to get my bike lic. No way a cop is going to know what's under 50cc and what's over.. can't see them giving someone on a scooter a ticket for riding out of class, even if they did what's it like 100 bucks.

Again not that I need to justify it.. (yeah ok I do) but I live like 2k's from work and don't get a car bay. So a bike's over kill.. and I'm wayy, wayy too lazy to walk.

It could be worse.. I could be getting tips on how to import one of these.

Dan the man.. what's up my nigger.

Well that is sad, sad news.. can you do a bit of the ol dog-a-roo with the imports. It's gonna come in parts I could tell em it's a new toaster perhaps?

CA was where I was getting my prices.. I'll PM.
