On a serious note - anyone suggest a good "learn how to run" program.
Just kinda realised I havnt run more than the length of a basketball court.. in about 15 years. Shiiiit.

Hang a pork chop around your neck, find someone with a big dog, preferably a rotweiller or doberman, and I'm sure you get the rest

hahaha you have to push yourself if you want to start getting anywhere, didn't do any exercise for 4 months after having major surgery (8.5hr) and started with that distance, was fucking hard at first, try 1k even.

What I did was go for a jog in the morning, and went as far as I could (until my legs were about to give in) then I stopped. I did this for a week, then, I started doing it in the afternoon (as well as the morning). I kept that up until I could jog about 1km without stopping. Then I switched to 1 jog per day, and then found the max distance I could jog, and did that distance for 7 days. Then I tried pushing it up a little. Don't worry too much about what pace at first, until you build up a little fitness, main point being that you don't stop. 1 thing I learnt that hard way was, it is a good idea to do a warm up walk and cool down, I suggest the same to you. If you like, I can post up what distances etc I started off doing (before I lost any weight) I just don't have them with me at the moment. Good luck with the exersise & weight loss mate, it is hard work, but believe me, it will be worth it. Last edited by gumby; 06-11-2012 at 06:08 AM. Reason: early morning typing fail |

There are some good guides here. Kinetic Health - Chevron City to Surf for Activ 2012 [70] Have a look at the 4km run or walk plan.
Cheers Jez
