Ingrown toenails on both big toes, both were hugely infected - so the local anaesthetic the podiatrist was administering had literally no effect. that was then followed by a rather hefty large pair of clippers slicing straight through my skin and toenail alike; with peroxide then being administered afterwards the nail had been removed, as to kill cells that are responsible for the regrowth of nails. since then, i haven't had any more horrid ingrown toenails, thank god.
other than that, a broken nose and jaw and 4 chipped front teeth, with swelling that lasted a good two weeks after i (supposedly) got dropped on australia day at the matilda bay foreshore last year by a group of people whom didn't particularly like me. fortunately i have no recollection of these events, only recall the intense pain i went through for the following weeks.

I'd have to give it to the ladies out there giving birth. Certainly can't top that. But closest i've come to excruciating pain is having hunting knife go through the hand.. BIG OUCHIE FOR ME!!
... also whilst boxing and having the brick pier come stacking itself on top of me. Must of been the wheaties i ate for breakfast |

I feel for anyone that has had to deal with burns.
After spending the first day of a test match at the WACA and using my mate's rather f***ing useless sunscreen, I ended up with 2nd degree burns on both of my legs (was sitting on the grass banks with legs out-stretched). I was in tears trying to walk, and could not drive for a fortnight. I could not believe how much they swelled from fluid either. I broke the "radial head" in my right elbow playing football last year. Didn't feel anything until after the game where I noticed that I could not straighten my arm. All of a sudden it started aching and swelled up. Drove to hospital with one arm to get it looked at. Very tricky. I've also put two hooks from a treble on a lure into the tips of two separate fingers. Luckily I had crushed the barbs and could pull them out reasonably quickly, but not before feeling one of the hooks grinding against the bone whilst wiggling it out. Didn't actually hurt that much, but the sensation made me feel like puking.

Just read through this thread again. How the hell are some people still alive? After the 7th separate occasion of breaking a major bone... maybe you should change your lifestyle haha?
My LEAST painful experience, which you would think would be painful, was getting my thumb nail ripped off. Except that I didn't know it. I was back in primary school and I think it was probably footy that did it. I just looked down after noticing some blood and realised it was gone. I didn't feel a thing. Went to the office, the receptionist swore, asked if I needed to go home and I said "ummm... I guess? Hmm actually not really." She looked at it again. "Ok, sure you do. I'll call your mum". Strange.

Wow, I've had it pretty good in comparison but mine would be:
1. About 6 years of age was in Corpus Christi, Texas. Got the chicken pox so couldn't go outside during the day. Dad would take me to the beach during the night and light up the beach with the 4WD lights so I could play. Tripped over myself and cut my knee open on a Tonka Truck. Went to doctor who stitched it. Anaesthetic didn't work but he just kept going. I still remember it now. 2. 9 / 10 years old was a very competent skier. Was hot dogging some moguls first week of the season. Came off very badly on that black diamond run and went careening down the mountain. Destroyed both knees as skis got stuck in the snow and I tumbled over and twisted. Passed out from pain. 3. Same day - Due to first week of season and body growth - ski boots were too small. Didn't tell my parents of the issue. Only wore one pair off socks to fit and had gotten snow/frost bite in my toes. Woke up in hospital when they slowly reheated my feet to get them warm again. Was like having hot needles shoved under the nails in my feet. Screamed like you would not believe. Couldn't feel my knees though, well not until later. 10 months rehab to walk again without crutches. 4. Having appendicitis which I thought was stomach cramps for a week. Appendicitis was "cell walled" when I went to rugby training and got hit in the area. FARK! 5. Was playing a game of rugby. Got a penalty tap 5 meters from the try line. Got passed the ball for a "muscle over" play for a try. One opponent got one leg, another the other leg and went opposite directions which tore my quad in half. Passed out - in hospital woke up with a thigh 2-3 times the normal diameter from internal swelling and blood loss. All in all - they all seemed as bad as each other. However, nothing in comparison to what some have been through. Edit - When did I become "DCCD Donut Driver - Member" ???? Last edited by GTB Liberty; 10-02-2010 at 11:36 AM. Reason: DccD |
