i'm no angel
but on neighbourhood streets, i wont go pass the speed limit
i do volunteer work at the hospitals and i can see some of the damage done to kids being hit by cars going "slightly" over the limit

on the fwy/hwy or double lane roads, there's a time and place

i dont speed on neighbourhood streets either my friend hit a kid driving the speed limit, anyway it's all about luck and yes the more responsible/slower you drive the safer. But that still wont make you safe.....i guess you misinterpreted what i meant. IN MY OPINION i think the speed limits on some main streets are too low for the volume of traffic on them then cops go and put speed cameras there and wonder why so many people speed around that area and i think it's pathetic....just my lil opinon thats all

i dont disagree with you completely

get a radar detector. i've got one and its great
but restrain sometimes in tight streets as the detector isn't fool proof, not yet.

maybe that [PMS365] plate suits you after all

does anyone have any comments on the Escort 8500 X50?
if these rearward-facing speed cams are simply a multanova with the camera facing the other way then their detectability shouldn't have changed at all.

i have a x50 and is not like the rx65 talking to you. it will beep depending on the signal strength. so, the other day when i went pass a backward-facing camera, it beeped at mid strength level when got near it (abt 50m) then when i went passed it, it was a soild beep, so both the radar and the camera must be facing backwards too, if that is what you were asking.

Personally, i prefer the RX65 to the X50. It appears to have better warnings against Ka threats with my own personal tests etc.

My RX65 was recently sent back to the states to have firmware 4.5 (previously 3.6) flashed onto it, i find it to be more responsive to Ka band then what it was previously.

However i think i will be moving away from Beltronics in the next few weeks, and going after something else.. not sure yet.. not sure...

i would expect the rx75 to have greater detection range - is this actually the case? have you had a normal portable Bel that you can compare it to?

Hey everyone,

I'm putting together video footage I've taken of Multanova warning times from the (Passport Escort 8500) X50 which I'll put on my website (should be finished in a couple of weeks), and will be doing one for the photo jammer I mentioned earlier. Both approaching head on, and from the opposite direction. With all the puplicity of that dude on the motorbike doing insane speeds, the police are trialing the "rear facing" method of deploying the Multanova, and for those discussing it before, NO the radar doesn't face a different direction to the camera - you will get VERY LITTLE warning from a Bel detector.

Also they have been trialing RDD's here and reporting back to Michelle on just how many cars are carying detectors. That twat on the news the other night has stuffed it up for WA - the end is near for legally using a radar detector in WA.
