I believe the observation deck is actually being opened to the public according to a plane spotter's email to Perth Airport HQ. But then again, who knows.
Yeah that rings a bell now. Menzies took over PCC not long ago. Cheers for those directions Megs. So, who's in for Tuesday morning?

Update, ETD is definitely 1300.
Observation Deck, definitely closed off to the public. Will be going down for a squiz, providing when I scope out Menzies, that it is a good location.

Jeez I go away to train on a Boeing 717, for a few months and Perth-WRX turns into a SCAREBUS forum :-)
I will post the aviation weather forecast for Perth Airport on here Monday night so all the aviation spotters on here can drive to the correct end of the airport for the A380 arrival Tues. morning. Commonly the A380 is kindly referred to as the "Dugong" by Oz Pilots. Its all in the shape of the nose of the thing. I also see no problems with Perth's runway surface for the A380 - its all about tyre pressure when landing Jets on hardened surfaces. The more wheels to take the compression forces upon landing spreads the aircraft weight over a greater surface area of runway pavement, hence you can run lower pressure tyres on say an Airbus A380 than a Boeing 777 that has less tyres and operates with higher tyre pressures. Megs is correct Perth airport have had taxiway strengthening upgrades over the last year or so to handle higher weight aircraft - and higher tyre pressures. On the flight attendant side of things - once QANTAS FA's train on the A380 they are exclusively kept on that aircraft and can operate on no others in the fleet. Although the route structure will initially be limited, it will also mean a lot of time off back in Oz - good for some. J

Contracted for two years on the A380 i believe, the hosties that is. Lucky biatches.
Scoped out the Menzies location... not bad really. Will prob head there, but closer to the staff carpark. Grampa is coming with me, he has video footage of one of the first Jumbo Jets landing crazy haha. We'll prob head there for 0730.
