Qantas - only take casuals... so no sick leave, no annual leave, no discounted flights and can be away from home up to 15days at a time etc. Do not have any issues with all their engineering problems, as this happens with all airlines, the media are just hyping it up.

Virgin Blue - take fulltimers... can choose up to 5 people to put on your free/discounted flights list... uniform is better than Qantas... and from an inside source treat their employees very well. A lot of clubs both for crew and their families, and a lot of support networks.

Deciding on an airline is a personal choice really, can look at where to be based, where the airline flys to, what planes you can fly on, what the uniform is like, what kind of money are they offering.

But when your just starting out, best to start at a small airline (ie; skippers, network, national jet, skywest etc) to get used to the job and get a bit of experience, then move on up.

I'd love to work for Emirates, they give you a good deal, accomodation and some food is payed for, access to gyms, cheaper car loans, they give you a ticket to fly to your home country every year for free, your pay is tax free etc. Only problem is you have to be 21years and your signed up on a 3 year contract and have to live in Dubai. But those be the sacrifices if you want to do it. Whats attractive about Emirates is its a world class airline, they've got the airbus A380, they are in an awesome city and they look after their employees really well... they take the cake really.

Emirates or Singapore Airlines... would have to be the best in the world. However I have issues with the shoes that the Singapore Airlines cabin crew wear, they are slip on sandal/heels... highly unpractical and very unsafe.

I do want to join the force, but I still haven't heard any news, when I'm starting etc. Besides I can always go back to Flight Attending, or hold off on the police for a few years.

That sounds fairly credible. Wouldn't classify myself as an aviation buff, but another point is that all runways have to meet certain width/clearance requirements set by the aviation governing bodies.

With a wingspan of almost 80 metres, the runways need to be wide enough to fit the plane on for a start.

At the end of the day the A380 is a beast, and an awesome one at that

Nah both runways can handle it fine and aprons were widened not long ago for the A380. The Boeing 777 is more harsh on runways than the A380 & 747 due to the 777 only having only 2 main landing gear.

You can hook up your laptop and surf the net as long as you have a lan cable.
There is power points on the chair in case the battery is running low as well

I believe the interior of the A380 varies from different airlines. For example, Singapore Airline may have te Entertainment unit with Free internet access but i not not sure about Qantas. Dont quote me on this though

judging by Qantas standards.. they will go the pov option compared to other airlines.

Since July Ive been on 12 different flights.. and I have to say .. I couldnt be more over Qantas if I tried. Went on Singapore Airlines for the first time a few weeks ago and was pretty impressed. The hosties actually walk around offering drinks etc rather than acting like its a massive inconvenience to get you a coke (qantas !) . And the seats on Sing. Airlines ... on one of the planes anyway... had adjustable lumbar support... adjustable height/squishiness under ur bum... and the seats are heaps nicer

anyways.. I digress. Saw the A380 in Singapore... was walking along wondering wtf there were ppl taking photos of a plane.. then saw how damn massive it is... very cool !

The Qantas A380 will have Internet access which is also being planned to be available on the 747, 767 & A330 flights soon, but I have a feeling there will be restricted net with complaints already in the US with people accessing porn.

Luca for Cabin Crew this is the package deal (quoted from above site);

Your pay consists of a fixed basic salary, an hourly pay for operated flights and an overseas allowance.
Pay Scale:
Grade II: Basic Monthly Salary AED.3640/- (1 USD = approx. AED 3.673) Tax Free in the UAE. $1,240.72 Australian per month
Flying Pay: On an hourly basis:
Grade II AED 47.50 per hour. $16.20 Australian per hour for every flying hour
Paid between chocks off and chocks on. Flying pay is paid in the month following accrual.
Meal allowances are paid in the currency of the country of night stop. Transport to & from the airport, and hotel accommodation is provided by the company.

This is as your basic Cabin Crew Member, if you move up to doing first and business class service you get paid more, and if you become a purser (head cabin crew on flight) you obviously get a bit more.

So as you can see it's not much as a base pay, but you make it up with the allowances, so the more flights you do the more money you earn. But as I previously mentioned they give you a fully furnished apartment to live in with another hosty (same sex of course because in Dubai you can't live with the opposite sex unless you are married or family). So you don't have to worry about paying rent, and some meals are provided for you as well, so basically what you earn you keep, and they can transfer your money to your preferred account tax free also.

Back to the A380 though, it can hold up to 555 people, but Qantas are having it so they can hold 450 people. So with the internet access, it just depends on the airline what specs they decide to put or not put onboard.

I would think Emirates as well. Had some good talks to hosties about it on some flights, HI ! to Marie from Prague!! Wow....: )

She was wrapped with Dubai cause "I can go snorkeling all year round" and hang out with others in Dubai and they get treated really well.. (Obviously) by the locals (men)..

But all in all she loved being able to go to different places, she actually knew Perth and Kings Park, the city and stuff...She was with a local Czeck (sp?) airline prior and was "bored" of Europe.
