hence the price difference, Its no surprise, smart move on nissans part to limit the amount of warranty claims leading to dissatisfaction, but cant help but feel they have shot themselves in the foot on this issue.

Nissan have shot themselves in the foot because they expected a fangled dsg-semiauto-twinclutch thingy to handle the monster torque of a twin turbo v6. audi (the master of dsg boxes) never offered a dsg box in their performance vehicles (eg rs4) until very recently because they knew better. make the box strong enough first, then sell them.

PDK gearbox (porsche's version of DSG which they invented in the 70's nonetheless) was shelved due to reliability problems back with the 996. Most likely make its performance debut with the 998TT over the next 18months. Interesting to see the outcome of that.

Hi,

I for one am not surprised they shelved it. Obviously wasn't as small and isolated of a deal as some people wanted to believe.

Cheers,
Nik

My understanding is that the gearbox was designed in Australia and Nissan have stopped production until a solution is sorted. PPG Currently have the box out of the Pink Donut king car in there looking to manufacter something stronger. Problem is that is has all sorts of position sensors and the like which makes it very hard to do anything with it.

Are they ever planning on releasing a traditional H pattern gearbox, even as an option?

Hi,

Most of the rumour mill is entertaining the idea of a 6-speed V-Spec.

If nothing else, this car sure as hell is talked about!

Cheers,
Nik

Cool, I hope that's the case.

I'd originally thought they'd market the Dual Clutch for the mainstream user and later on bring out a 3 pedal H pattern for the club racer / enthusiast.

Similar to how the Evo X is being marketed
