The phone DOES still work when plugged in, it even mutes the stereo when the phone rings or you recieve an sms, so you can hear the call come in (NOTE: Only if you DON'T select 'airplane mode" that is).

My phone switches the ipod finction off when unplugged from the cable whilst playing music. It also pauses the song if the stereo is switched off with the phone plugged in.

When plugged in again (after a day at work) it picks up from the last track played and continues to play the last selected playlist.

I charge my phone via a usb adaptor in the car if needed (which apart from 4 days camping, I haven't needed to).

Thanks MY99. Thats the one. I'm sure I saw it somewhere in Aus (Need to check my history on home PC). Just did a quick check and that US store is asking $5.85 USD to ship to WA.

That's just under $70AUD delivered. Not cheap is it?
Hopefully we find it for a bit less!

I have a 9885 in the work ute & plugged my 1st gen iphone into it & it cooked the iphone, it was red hot to touch & died. I later googled & found others had had the hot to touch problem with iphone & Alpine , may not be a problem with the new 3G iphone but just a heads up.
