Yeah happens at some servos and not just caltex - rusty leaking tanks - wrong fuel put in tanks - flooded driveways allowing rain to leak into tanks - they have a heap of fopars at servos and it ends up in your car .....

A lot of it also has to do with their turn-over. The older the fuel gets the worse it gets, often negating any advantage of the 98 RON.

Found this when I used to buy in 100 RON Racing Fuel for my Cortina. Would only buy 20l drums as I didn't use enough to warrant a 220L drum, and it would go off if not used.

Perhaps a recommendation of brand and location of servo would be useful to some people.

I have noticed that the caltex's seem to refuel their tanks fortnightly. As on many occasions I have gone to fuel up at Malaga and they have the "out of order" flag on the pump. I normally fill up once a week at the Malaga one.

Agreed, Caltex run out of 98 very often. On a few occassions, I've been very low on fuel but I managed to make it to Caltex only to see an 'out of order' sign on all of the Vortex 98 pumps - kinda lose faith after that...

Yes it is annoying when they run out. However at least you can hopefully be assured the fuel is going to be "fresh".

I've only ever put BP in .. but seriously, i think BP reckon they think they're the pioneers of fuel or something and consistently have higher prices than everyone else.

My car is tuned on BP 98, doubt it would make a difference if i put some other kidna 98 in though.
