For long distance country work (i.e up north) I'd be buying another swb diesel landcruiser....... fair bit more roo, goat and eagle proof!
Bj73 with a 3b diesel.....as reliable as the sunrise.

Don't do it, It's not worth the headaches. The car will die on you with Kms like that. I bought a high Kms car once and i would never do it again. Engine went BUNG!!!

600'000 even on a good car would be silly, but on a Falcon?

If it's cheap enough, buy it, drive it into the ground, then sell it for what you can.
Check diff/auto gbox noise, also check for leaks under the power steering rack. If any of those things are gone, forget it! Simsmetal time.

My last taxi (EB) had over a million on the clock when I sold it to a taxi company to continue on as a fleet car for another 2yrs, had the tranny re built at 120,000 when I bought it but it was pretty worn when I sold it, head done at 800k because I cooked it but the block was still perfect........apart from regular stuff like brakes hoses etc it was a pretty reliable car & only ran on gas for the last 700k, as a bunky I wouldn't hesitate to buy one but like someone said before you could probably get an AU with a quarter of the mileage for a similar price, or a much better EF/EL.

Are you guys serious singing the praises of the 2H and 3B Toyota diesels?
I rate them the same as Holden 253's, hook enough chain on them and they'll hold a decent boat from drifting but don't try driving a car powered by one unless you have a few days food and drink on board. (and that's just to get you to Geraldton!) |

Never said it was quick!
I did 96,000 km in 3 years in the Pilbarra in mine, never missed a beat. Same can't be said for 9 dualers though !

what you gotta remember with high miles cars is all of the car has done them miles ie steering, suspension, etc etc
get ready for a headache or just go the auctions or check ebay for bargains..... |
