Chrysler are in the same position, however they have/are arranging a collaboration with Fiat to survive, which looks like its going to work out.

No, actually Ford has loaned $us 4 billion...... They avoided the media "free money" hype by insisting on paying .0003% interest.

Along with the Panamera however all of these cars have been in the Pipeline for a LONG time with lots of investment.

I did read a few months ago if the worlds car makers all stopped making cars there is enough in stock to fill projected demand for 5 months.

You should see the old wartime airfields all over the world that are literally covered in cars parked bumper to bumper waiting to be sold. Thats acres and acres of cars just sitting there.

Lots of them are pre-registered because of manufacturers performance monitoring being based on new car registrations. It looks great on paper but the cars have not actually been sold to anyone!!

There are tons of stories around of peoples 'brand new' cars being delivered with corrosion and other issues from sitting around for months on end.

Yeah apparently there are some pretty impressive paddocks of new cars around melbourne. This is where the relatively small scale importers like Suzuki, Subaru etc do ok. They only import what they need with a lot less of a lead time between order and delivery to aust compared to the likes of toyota with the corolla.

That's why it is less common buying a "new" 12 mth old (from man. date) suzuki/subaru than toyota,Holden, ford.
