I had a hp netbook, but it got damaged. So i was looking at a new netbook for uni etc... Aiming For around $300-400, and found the tablets (ipad etc)
So yeah ended up with a acer iconica a501, 16gb, for $330 cash from goodguys.
Havent had it that long, but so far its been really impressive
It much faster than a equlivant priced netbook, easy to type Assignments etc, and if u struggled typing on the touch screen, its got the usb's to plug keyboard in if need be

The only con is when you try play movies at a res. Higher than 12##x 800, but they are perfect at or below that
Not that netbook played any decent movies anyway lol.

Its slightly larger than the ipad2, and a bit heavier, but the screen is slightly larger. (10.1" i think)
Has usb, hdmi and speaker outputs, 3g (simcard), wifi, 5mp cam+2mp cam & battery lasts forever (9-10 hours)
And imo, at a third of the price of an ipad2, its not bad, okay it dosent have the apple name badge, but neither dose it have the restrictions. The usb allows, hard drives, phones, keybords, printers whatever to be plugged straight it
So yeah, just a bit of an alternitive for those out there looking for a compact computer.

what you think of the lenovo Thinkpad X series?

Laptops | ThinkPad | X Series | Lenovo Australia

Ive dont further research and external DVD burners are cheap now and run off USB, I think? So, dont really need one in the lappy..

The HP isn't bad, i've sold a couple of these to clients who love them. Personally my favourite is the Asus EEE PC. They're awesome little notebooks with amazing (7+hours) battery life.

If you want any more info give me a shout.
Agreed ^^^. My Asus EEE PC is very good and was on sale cheap too.
