If you have version 3.1.3 iphone, its impossible to jailbreak....for now.

if your on 3.1.2 DO NOT UPDATE. the only thing the new version does is block jailbreaking.

on a positive note, hope the iphone 4g comes out this year, time for upgrade.

correct. 3.1.3 has no actual update to it. I don't think the iPhone 4g will come out this year. Although I would expect to see firmware 4.0 out when the iPad is released.

iPad will originally come with 3.2 I'm guessing.
iPhone OS 4.0 will come out around June along with the updated iPhone.

Hopefully the hardware can support all these app's running at once.

No multitasking for 3G though probably just stick to my jailbreak until the new iphone gets released I guess.

4.0 wont be released to the public till the next gen iPhone is released some time late June onwards.
1st gen iPhone (2g) and the original iPod touch aren't supported at all by 4.0.
Seems like the multitasking isn't keeping full apps open but rather key components (APIs) of the app. As apple makes the APIs they maintain control.
The foldering of apps looks awesome.
Also there are hints of a front facing camera and iChat.

So basically my iPhone 3GS will support OS4? It will download as an update from iTunes? There's no need to get a new iPhone? (iPhone 4G or whatever...)

They say all the software features mentioned so far will work on 3GS. Obviously if they later mention stuff like video chat etc that won't.
