So i can load that for my friend but just holding the shift key when i click upgrade yeah ?


I was actually just doing my work iphone through itunes just normal update from apple
right at end has a error and crashes, then it says i had to retore it lol damn it.
lucky was only my work one not my personal one would have been annoyed other wise.

Yeah, a shift+restore then select that file.

Make sure you use the right file though! 3GS firmware on 3G = fail.

Same happened to me last week. Lost all media on the phone.

Now I'm getting the apple' standby screen for 2-3 hours at a time, and the iphone only functions when it wants to.

Time to ring Virgin and threaten to take a hostage i think...

Grrrr.

yeah I was lucky it was my work iphone so i dont keep much on that one . Would have been pissed if it was my personal one
hopefully it doesn't do this when i do my friends one haha.
it also flashed up with emergency calls only i was like fck off nooo

Then few screen changes from itunes as it was going through and it all came back good again lol.

so there is no difference in activation or anything like that doing it manually with that file to just clicking upgrade on itunes. I just dont want anything to go wrong hahaha.

Nope.

iTunes actually downloads that file and then runs it for the upgrade. If you look in your itunes folders you will find all the previous update files too. All same.

Either or.

Restore will make the phone 'brand new'.

Upgrade will upgrade (duh ).
