Tonight the wife rang me from outside as she was leaving and said her garage door remote wont work. I closed it from inside thinking battery.

When I left the house alarm remote wouldnt work so I used the alarm panel after noticing the wife left without her keys and trying both our remotes.

I then got in the liberty and it wouldnt start tried everything I could think of (keyless entry and start button) but wouldnt start. went inside and got my spare key fob but still nothing. this is when I noticed my neighbour and his family cursing their garage door. I asked what was wrong and he said the remote wouldnt work.

I was pressing and holding the start button and also pushing the steer wheel controls when the car finally started.

Oddly enough the neighbour across the road was standing in her garage looking angry pressing her car remote and pointing at the car.

when I returned home the wifes car was out the front, she mentioned the garage door wouldnt open and the car wouldnt lock.

I managed to get the garage door open after pressing my remote many times but also my car wouldnt lock with the remote.

Unsure what is going on but it is weird.

Very weird!!!

I know that when I go to a particular shop and arm my car I sometimes can't disarm it and have to use the key and then over-ride the alarm.

Any new mobile towers or something of that nature near you??

OR

A neighbour with a new toy of some form??

Only thing I can think of is Neighbour with some sort of jammer or signal booster that they have recently acquired.

Look for a HAM/cb radio antenna close by in your area, Someone is using a high power 2 Kw+ linear amp (illegal) on their rig.

The use of overpowered cb/ham radios can cause transmissions to “bleed over” into other channels and bands. In a worst-case scenario, illegal amplifiers can bleed into TV, music radio and even crash your pc!

They can blat out all other RF signals within a 200-500m radius of the antenna array.

Roller door remote is probably on 27mhz (most are), car is either 415 or 327mhz.

Mercedes had an issue with certain models some years ago if they traveled a certain street near the balcatta tv transmitter...they would simply stop and not start again until moved a few hundred meters down the road.

Yeah as roscco said someones prob use the high powered
amp on their CB aerial would prob be the best bet as it's
affecting not just yourself.

On a similar topic, I have noticed that since my neighbours behind me have installed a big satellite dish (or wateva it is) on their property, I have trouble receiving a quality picture on Channel 7 some days...strangely only between 6pm and 7pm.

Is there any correlation? Can these dishes cause such interference?

unless it was a two way dish (buck & lnb), very unlikley!
