Well im as confused as fuck. Cant seem to install any programs from my PC to my new Sony X10. It has a 16GB Memory Card in it and I have a whole heap of programs but Ive scanned all over the Sony Ericsson website and it still doesnt tell me how to do it ! Even when you download the PC link software it has no way of installing apps either . So im stuck, has anyone else got this phone and if you do how the fuck do you install apps ?

My Android is a HTC Magic on VF (but not locked).

When I tried to install the PC interface software I made the discovery after several days of trying that the VF/Google branded version such as I have, is incompatible with said software. This was only confirmed after 3 or so phone calls over a 2 day period to HTC support.... I was amazed that they didn't know the answer first up!

So, in short, the only way to install apps (apart from OTA Android Market) or add/retrieve pix/videos/files etc is to pull the SD card from the phone in chuck into a card reader? Yeh, great support right there.

Dunno if that helps you at all, but it seems that only 3rd party folks like at XDA development team (some name like that) are the ones making any inroads to making the Android actually useful. If you are so inclined you can "root" your phone (as in "jailbreak" vs iPhone), which opens up the Android to its full potential. I'm waiting until the last 6 months of my contract before I go down this road.

Word of caution: Rooting voids warranty; but the guys at XDA have the complete reversal procedure covered.
