Based purely on average sunlight hours for cities closest to our latitude

Perth 3211hrs year

Adelaide 2768.6hrs year

Sydney 2480hrs year

The insolation figures would disagree if we looked at total average irradiance for all three cities. I do believe that Perth has more days than any other Australian capital where over 100 000 lumens per meter squared are recorded for longer than 2 hours <--- this is considered to be a bright day.

I do agree that the brightness or intensity is higher than the others as stated in your figures, but it is only showing 100 000 lumens and over which can be effected by variables such as cloud cover ie. 1/8 vs 7/8 . It does not mean that we are having longer days.

Either way I have 2 kids who go to bed when I tell them, not when the sun does.

DLS would be good for the actual 3 summer months, other than that no thanks.

Also China one of WAs major trading parties is on the same time zone...

DLS is awesome, I grew up with it and I find it really difficult not having it.. I used the extra time after work to go for a run or get things done. I think they just make it so damn hard to vote that most people don't get a say. Online poll would be so much better.

bah, there is no need for day light savings.

If people are so concerned about an extra hours light after work, im sure most companies are flexible enough to let you start an your working day an hour earlier.

For companies that rely on interstate communications this would help them year round.

DLS rocks!!! Bring it back I say!

Unfortunately, after 4 referenda in which it was defeated each time, I don't see DLS rising from the ashes for a LONG time. No govt would be game enough to do it for at least the next dozen years or so. By that time I'll be close to retirement & won't give a sh!t anymore .

Did you know that WA creates more emssissions with DLS due to the mines being open for a whole extra hour?

Whilst the Libs are in and especially big Col at the helm enjoying his 6am tennis games in Peppy Grove during summer there's no chance of it getting forced on us.

I hate it. Starting work at 6am every day it's a nice change to start the day in sunlight. Also its still light at about 7pm anyway so surely thats enough time to get your shit done?
