Default Paypal - Watch Out

Hi Guys,

As some of you may have seen - I was trying to sell some of my rims online. Anyway, I posted an ad on gumtree and this customer seemed very interested. It started to get a little suspicious when he said he needed to post to the UK, and that it would cost 1K. Surely to buy a new set would have been cheaper than wheels + postage. Anyway, he decided to pay for wheels + postage via paypal, which I said was okay.

I got an email from paypal saying that instant payment was recieved, which i was quite surprised about. Then I got an email from paypal saying that they had debited his account, the money was ready to go, but for security reasons I would have to pay that $1000 postage via western union money transfer and send them a copy of the receipt before they would realease the full amount. This got me a little bit suss, so i called up paypal to check on the transaction... and voila! no such transaction.

Dodgy mofos.

So if anyone uses paypal in the future, if the transaction doesn't show on your history of your paypal account - beware that it's not real.

Geez, that's pretty creative. Good job for looking into it before making the transfer.

Western Union = Dodgy.

EXACT same thing happened to me when I was selling some rims last year.. the guy told me he was a sailor and was buying them for his son in the UK. same thing happened with a mate from work when he was selling his car. dodgy!

^^

Why are you just getting emails from paypal? I can send you and email that says Paypal as the sender. Doesn't mean squat.

Moral of the story is don't believe email spam, instead check with the actual sites you are dealing with.

ye happened to me thought I got the money sent the fake iphone and paid $80 postage to Nigeria and never got my money did I.
I had to make a complaint to the border security but theyre as dodgy and didnt give a shit. But that was little me back in the days. Now i know exactly what to look out for. saved my sister recently too.. theyre pretty good but when you know what to look out for it's not that bad.
Just need to make sure the money is in paypal and in process of money being transferred into your account then it's safe..

They have fuckall in Nigeria, that's why they try to scam the rest of the world.

All these scams have dodgyness written all over them, surely people are onto it by now.
