The wikileaks situation is another massive grey area. Wikileaks may be right in publishing their information. They may also be causing more damage by posting information. But that's another debate.

If you were the board of Apple, as an American corporation would you jeapordise your whole comapny due to one application? No you would pull it to avoid any possible legal problems that may ensue. Undoubtedly they received some government persuasion to do so to.

Why doesn't Apple approve some horse porn application? I'm sure it's legal in some places. But they just run a company and have to make the best decisions for the company legally.

Also remembering the application was not created by Wikileaks, but was US$1.99 and created by someone else trying to profit off it.

All good points kato (actually I have been looking for a horse porn app so please pass on the details if you have them) but my point is I won't be buying an iPad because of apples handling of the wikileaks app. Let's not forget some of the US politicians calling wikileaks illegal and stating it's 'doing harm...putting lives in danger...blood on their hands' etc are the same ones calling for Assange's assassination. Jobs has chosen sides and he is entitled to do so. I don't pretend my stance will impact apple sales as most shoppers don't know or care about how freedom of speech is being eroded.

If an app getting pulled is your only reason to boycott a company. Have a look at what google does for freedom of speech. So that rules out an android phone. Then we can look at microsoft and rule them out. And I'm sure nokia has done something similar too.

Then make sure you don't pay with a visa or MasterCard...

If you want to make a stand, that's fine. But against just one company when everyone else is doing it is silly IMO.

You can still use safari to check out wikileaks. I can't see the issue.

I don't like apple because of the control they try to keep over their products.
For example phones going in for repair and the standard screws being replaced with the "apple" screw, so you can't open the device. Very rude.
Of course this is nothing new and that has been the attitude of Apple right from the beginning. And to be fair they've never tried to hide it.

However, I do admire the company for making innovative and semi-original products. Although I feel their products have always been inferior compared to competitors, their brilliant marketing and original design has kept them at the top.

Will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years with the partnership between nokia and microsoft.

Whilst everyone gets carried away with apple vs android and smart phones in general, nokia still hold the biggest market share for mobile phones. And of course microsoft are, well, stubborn and full of cash. They are going to want a piece of the pie.

Something else I found quite amusing....
The iPad uses the dual-core A5 processor - which was developed by Samsung.
Yet the new Samsung Galaxy tablet sports the Tegra 2 chip - which was developed by Nvidia (and is apparently very good...).

Heh I was saying this to someone recently too. I love the android, but if they cant get better battery life (for starters) they'll quickly shoot themselves in the foot, leaving it wide open for nokia/Microsoft.

P.s. Sorry to the guys I've recommended frash to. It hasn't been updated for 4.2 software.

Not only that but Oracle have successfully sued Google for Java copyright infingements in Android.
Although I'm not sure what the implications will be. Oracle are the biggest cunts out of the lot, so who knows.

It seems Google employed ex Sun programmers to help build android, who apparently "cut and pasted" code from directly from java. They reckon even "Copyright Sun Microsystems" is in the android code. Mega fail.
