I saw on apple site wifi 16gig $449, where as before it was $630

so second hand , I wouldnt want to pay any more than $250 id say.

Got my Slate500 a couple of weeks ago, no love for ipad.

What made you go for the HP ?

does anyone use a VPN on the Ipad? If so how are you managing to open MS office programs? Does the apple equivilent work well.

Thinking about using them for the office rather than carting around laptops etc.

Need to be able to view PDF's of drawings etc and open word and excell templates

the best way to do that , is to create a vpn connection and then remote desktop to your work machine, giving you full access. I have done this for a few clients, and they have been very happy with the result.

No issues at all with VPN and Remote Desktop on the iPad

Rumours are that the iPad 3 will be out by the end of the year. You can never win with technology, thats just how it is.

Windows 7, Onenote, Size, Docking Station and Leather Folder, Active Digitizer, Stylus, ability to search my handwriting, fanless, 5h battery life, wireless tether to my android phone for internet access, usb port.

I guess it comes down to how you're going to use it. I need quick access to my notes, so I use it as an electronic diary. I can also open any msoffice spec drawings/docs without any fking around. Plus I get to overclocked it Not that it really needs it, it can play 1080 movies and multitask just fine.

Downsides are the build quality isnt as good as an ipad, the active digitiser is Ntrig not WACOM, no eraser on the back of the stylus, and the stylus requires a battery.
