Keep an eye out second hand in the next couple weeks if you don't want to buy new. A shit load should be hitting the second hand market I would say.

You are forgetting that we get dual band 3G on the new iPad. So it's not '4G'... Up to 42mbps will do my fine.

Anyone want a iPad2 64gig 3G?

Thanks for the info Kato. Does that mean the faster speeds are only available with Telstra 3G or does Optus have "dual band 3G"?

I'm with Telstra and they do it... Haven't looked into Optus.

The issue is the 4G LTE runs on the same frequency as analogue tv (which was meant to be switched off by now). So as an internet expert, I guess Telstra pumped out the Euro version as that spectrum was available for use.

I am surprised that Apple did this though. Europe, most of Asia and Australia can't have '4G' on the new iPad, yet they are advertising it as such... Quite interesting...

The 700Mhz Spectrum being used by Analogue tv's is due to be turned off in 2013. (I believe it was always planned for that year)

The ACMA will be left to process the dividing up of the spectrum & auctioning it off.

Ill be happy with just the Dual Band 3G, will mostly be connected to Wifi anyway unless i'm abroad.

I just got a wifi one, 64 gig. Ordered yesterday with a couple of extra goodies. I have WIFI at home, the office, and most family/mates houses i go. As well as a massive Data Cap on my iPhone that ill tether to when I'm out and about for free. Fuck having 2 contracts!

The other option you have is Prepaid Telstra iPad data sim NVRENUF.

Only pay as you go. Telstra Pre-Paid micro-SIM for Apple iPad

I've got the 12Gb one & I've hardly used any of it. About 3.2GB in last 4 months. I use it for Emails abroad, surfing the net & watching a few NHL games Live. Being on Telstra also the quality actually handles pretty well. We shall see how it goes with the "New" iPad & its increased Resolution = More data & bandwidth
