Yeah they generally stat write off stolen cars that have been stripped so they can't be bought back and have the "stolen parts" put back in, pretty sure it's Aus wide and has been for a long time, I bought a Legacy from Pickles 7yrs ago that had been regoed here for years but when I went to put it over the pits they noticed a different VIN welded over the original number, they contacted over east and turned out it was brought in for wrecking purposes only....very shonky but luckily I got it through.
