The understeer is a side effect of front suspension geometry (caster & Ackerman angles) & lateral roll resistance.

Look XT I'm replying to another one...
DC yes understeer is eliminated via sway bars, ALK, other stuff already in place etc... What I meant was if I elimimate the factory level of understeer put in by subaru which is 2kg softer suspension in the rear, then I have to fk with all my other mods like the stiffer sway bar etc as it will result in too much oversteer in a daily. If I was to put in only coilovers with say 8kg front and 8kg rears in my model STI with all other suspension elements OEM stock it would already result in an oversteering setup. Anyway this discussion has gotten too long in the happy thread, I guess you all get the idea of what I'm doing, hopefully be a good end result and you can check it out.

They're softer in the ass end so you don't hit a bump mid corner and suffer snap oversteer and spear off backwards into a tree...... hence why no one is stupid enough to do it.
Put a subaru on a set of car scales and look at the f/r weight split - that's why stiffer front & softer rear springs. Your understanding is seriously flawed mate.
