New, in car speed cameras...
Just saw one of these new in car speed cameras on Marmion Ave and got me wondering. Knowing what I do from my profession, EDMs (electronic distance measurements) distort due to refraction through glass. Also, they have to use a type of reflectorless EDM (reflects off any surface) but you can get bounce back off glass unless you are perfectly perpendicular to the glass pane?
Does anyone know anymore about it? Do they use refractorless glass? Just curious as it could lead to some interesting arguments in court. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They are the law.
Science comes second, marketing from the speed detection companies comes first. Best thing about lidar is it operates on an 'easy to obtain parts for' frequency. I'm suprised no one has had their picture taken jogging past a camera at 200kmh yet.
