The use of this camera already occurs on WA.

Typical news article; associate mailed out tickets to a "change in drivers attitudes" leading to "less police pursuits".

The reporter needs to put down the crack pipe or explain how a driver in a pursuit is going to stop due to the Trucams use.

Was being talked about a while ago. Once again channel 7 fail though. They go into how it will change driving behavior in the long term, then show a clip about a stolen car that went on the wrong side of the road to kill somebody.
How the fuck would a speed camera prevent that? Most the video mode will show is how many people slam on the brakes when they spot a handheld.

"By the time you see it being operated by a person, you would have been detected - it's anywhere anytime,” Fogate said."
Unless of course you detect them way in advance before they have a chance to measure your speed.

20K in 3 hours....revenue raising at it's finest, like fuck it will will put a stop to high speed police pursuits....the guy driving a stolen car is hardly going to give a shit about the handheld he has gone through doing 3 times the speed limit trying to get away from the cops....

the price of crack must have dropped this week....

In other news maximum speed limits on all streets will now be reduced to 40kms an hour in the interest of stopping police chases

I remeber I saw one episode of fifth gear testing those laser speed gun. One of the result was that if there are reflective objects near the road, those speed gun can make up to 40% errors, said by a German expert. On freeway, that is the difference bwtween speeding and reckless driving. No one knows, and they try to stop anyone who wants to know, how they calculate the tolerance.

PS: Three month ago, on manning rd, I nearly got hit by a commordore driving on my side of the road with three police car chasing it on opposite lane, I haven't hear a word they caught the driver, USELESS!
