Hope all the small businesses owners have read up on the taxation of gifts to employees!

If anyone feels bad at not getting anything, head on over to the ATO and see how there is no incentive for Christmas bonuses anymore.

Decent!

Got a $150 DJs voucher and a very pissy dinner at the Subi hotel the other night.
Company I contract services to also sent a generic merry christmas email and offered me an invite to their christmas lunch, which was a pay for yourself kind of deal. State gov't. Fuck that.

We get to leave at noon on friday, and have a few nibbles put on for the company update. Also get a christmas party, but its at the health and safety managers house. I work for an ASX listed mining company with around 100 staff (35 in perth), with a project worth over 4bil that they're trying to get off the ground. They are a bunch of cheap pingpings

Please feel free to accept one of the following responses:
-Derp;
-Its a drop in the ocean; and
-If all transactions/actions of a business were purely focused on an inflow/tax deductibility perspective a business will never grow, sustain its intellectual infrastructure, develop a consistent quality of tangible/intangible product, yadda yadda.

Edit: A greater understanding of FBT and proximity can help alleviate you're concerns as well as interpreting/widening your horizons of the term 'gift'.

Also the tax treatment of this has been in place for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.

2 weeks of not being at work is a beautiful thing for me. Quite happy with that.
