I don't mind PH, but then I do fit into the sports/fishing+drinking crowd.
Not the place I would choose to bring up a family, but great for a young couple.

Spent 11 years in Wickham growing up, and moved as soon as Rio would let me transfer to a Perth based office.

Definatly not the place I wanted to spend my years from 19 to 25 growing up. More personal taste really (I am into the live music scene etc, stuff that the PIlbara cannot really provide me) Though I do miss the sport and fishing, and being able to just get pissed and walk around to your mates house at any time of the weekend, without having to spend ages planing and working out how to travel an hour via train etc.

I would say that I don't miss the "locals", but they are just as bad down here these days so its really a moot point.


But in all, if you're moving there with your GF and your accomodation is provided and you enjoy the outdoors, go for it. It is a pretty good lifestyle if your into all that type of stuff.

Lived there for 8 Years. Cooke point is where you want to be if anywhere or pretty pool. Best ares in hedland. South hedland bit of a shit hole, it was good growing up there cos of all the freedom etc. $$$ is good. Def would not go back. I guess if you got young kids or something and want to earn cash it will b ok .. Ehhh
