Lol at the rego arguement. From what I've read the majority of funding for roads is federal or local government funds. Rates and PAYG etc funded....
If this is true I pay a number of rates and PAYG so I should be able to ride on the roads as I've already paid a significant share. If Rego is the source of road funding, I've owned a bucketload more cars in my years than the average bear.... so if we stand by the rego arguement you're actually driving on my share of the road. Go buy more cars and get your own road. ![]() Jokes aside, I agree the large weekend groups etc can be annoying and do give the majority of good riders a bad name. AS do some agro car drivers.

But when you look at the breakdown on the account, of where your money is going when you pay rego- over 50% is for insurance, with roughly 28% going into "license fees", the other 22% is divided between stamp duty, GST and clerical fees. The Australian Bureau of Statistics also published articles showing the Government funding from a federal down to local level, pays for over 75% of road establishment and upkeep. Taxed income pays for significantly more of the roads then rego does. So being a taxpayer & rego payer entitles me to pedal my bike on any dam road I want to. (as long as I obey road rules) ![]() |

I think that is a key point. A lot of the time bike riders do not obey the road rules. They act as cars when it suits them, and as pedestrians other times.
It should be simple, if you're on the road, you obey road rules. And dont go between the cars at the traffic light to be at the front, then slow down the cars behind you. I do understand the reasoning behind it, but at least when you get to the front keep all the way left so that cars do not have to go to the other lane to pass you!!! Adi |

Cars should go in another lane to pass cyclists. Its the law.

Pay tax, do whatever you please on the roads. Makes sense!
I don't have major problems with cyclists who obey the rules and stick left without holding up traffic. When they split at the traffic lights or cause rolling traffic jams by riding 3 abreast on busy roads they piss me right off. So would a douche doing 30 in his car or a pack of people jogging down the hwy.

It's the law?
Drivesafe learner's handbook says 1m at 50-70kmh and 2m at over 70kmh. Nothing about having to use another lane. http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/media...eSafePart6.pdf

If you can keep up with me and the rest of the traffic so I dont have slow down or go around you, then no problem.
