Anyone care to share what the current going rate is for builder's % mark-up is on a cost plus building contract (standard residential build)?

just under a year ago it was around 30%.

Tends to vary from builder to builder however.

30% is the benchmark every business strives for though.

Really? I'm certainly striving for higher margin than that.

After costs, where costs can be dependant upon structure.

Please re-read Blues post and reacquaint yourself with what a benchmark is.

Cost + 30% on everything would be nice!

Last renovator I had in charged invoice + 10%. I know it is different, but worth a comparison.

I'm well aware of what a benchmark is, I'm also capable of reading a post.
