Default Recommend a Building inspection service

Hi all,

Just looking for a recommendation for a building inspection
service as i'm due to have my 1st Practical completion inspection
on my new house soon.

I can spot the obvious things that need fixing but would prefer
to use the services of a qualified building inspector to check
the house over and i don't mind paying the few hundred to have
it done correctly and thoroughly.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Wayno

You can try this guy.....
http://www.absa.net.au/findass/Details.aspx?id=911

I have used him to do all my Energy Efficiency Assessments for me (I'm a arch. draftsperson / designer) and never had a problem. So although I can't say I have actually gone thru with him to do a Building Inspection Report as such, I definetely wouldn't hesitate in at least asking him for a quote if it were me - and I'm fussy trust me!

Let me know if you do contact him what his fee would be ok?

bumping this up...

Have my practical completion coming up, anyone do these or have a contact that does?

Also, I got an email stating the inspection MUST be within 5 days of when they say practical completion has been reached. Obviously working away makes this rather difficult. How much leeway is there to tell them I'll do it when I god damn please?

When you have Practical completion inspection the builder has 10-15 working days to rectify any issues, if you involve a building inspector then the builder has 10-15 working days from recieving the building inspectors report.
The building inspector can go through the home before you do or after, more than likely they will pick up anything you would pick up anyway. ie more cosmetic things.

You also need to keep in mind that until your final payment has been processed your cannot collect the keys- my advice would be to put the payment in 5-7 working days before you are due back from up north that way the builder has to wait for the payment anyway before sign off and key hand over.

If you were building with Ventura Homes or Aussie Living I would of been able to help ya!

Have used Martin at Aztech Inspections twice now, was fantastic on both occasions. Didnt take any shit from the supervisor, was $450 from top of my head.

Neville harrison- 0418 922 291

Or

Gary Chamberlain- 0412 923 248

These guys are really accurate and really picky! And they really hassle the builders until everything is done!

I'm a real estate agent and I can tell you the most anal building inspector I've come across is from Archicentre. From the perspective of buying/selling an existing home he's a nightmare but as it's for a check on your newly built home I'd get him in
