If it's 95% daily with 5% AHG skidpan type stuff, you don't need the bee's knees.
So many people buy things for the sake of buying them, makes no sense. If it's basic track work, even stock pads and rotors with good fluid will suffice. Having said that, since you are upgrading already, the 4000's are a good choice, considering the price. Don't go too aggressive on the pad, unless you are prepared to put up with the noise. Some lucky people don't experience significant noise with performance pads, but for the most part they are noisy.

I like these discussions but sometimes I find that the experienced/seasoned competitors don't chime in too much, and when they do – such as yourself Fred – the answers are sometimes short and unsupported.

I like the SCR because they survived about 60 laps at Collie and only started to give up at the very end of the day when I did about 8 laps in a row (combined with HC+). Edit : http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/381433-post315.html

DBA 4000's with QFM AR1M pads are a good combo for a daily.
Also will survive occasional track work. Talk to Greg at GSL Rallysport.

I have used DBA 5000 with various pads (from Ultimates to DS2500 to Pagid RS19) over many years with some track work and have never had a problem (eg never had a cracked rotor)....I rate them highly.
Saying that MMS now use PMU on their tarmac cars and Dean likes them... Obviously there are different pad combos etc to consider according to the application.

If its a street car just go the cheaper scale of brakes. IE standard replacement from dba/rda and talk to GSL about pads.

Why would you say that? I've been adviced by a trusted workshop to do so and people who are tracking their car as often as once a week are also advising so on forums.

People who are tracking their cars once a week are recommending you DO NOT upgrade your rotors at all; you can stick with OEM and they will be fine? Did I interpret that correctly?
The thing with forums is that unless you know the person making the comment and their experience (so you can put due weight behind their recommendation/advice/opinion) then it's hard to know who really has a clue what they're talking about!
