I'm moving from westnet after 3 years of 1.5mbit simply as they don't offer free waix anymore. Going to amnet 24Mbit on morley exchange, should sync around 16Mbit based on downstream attenuation shown on my router.

That shits me, I had 8mg/sec on amcom and the highest I got with it was 145kb/sec. Now I'm in Buno with 1.5/sec with TPG and the most I get when dl a flick is 35kb/sec. I feel so poor.

All depends on your phoneline etc.. I have the 8mb plan and I get up to 830kb/s
Usually average 450 - 550 kb/s.
Im happy with that, probs get a little better when Amnet give their 8mb customers the free upgrade to 12mb later this month

What router do you have? That is wrong.

If you had 8mb/sec you should have been getting better than 1.5mb download speeds and same again for 1.5.

I would be updating firmware on the router or try a different router. If you want to try one, Let me know I might be able to make one from work go missing for a week or so.

They don't have hardware in every exchange, so that doesn't do many people any favours, and I reckon their hardware rollout will basically stop now. Telstra are ramping up to offer ADSL2 pretty much everywhere (except regional, funnily enough, we get fucked again..) so the money iiNet have sunk so far into DSL2 is probably not so well invested afterall.

Mines one off max and usually sits around the 150 kb/s mark unless theres a torrent somewhere with 1000+ seeds. Beats me

It's actually only their 40/40 & 80/80 customers they offered that to. I'm taking them up on it.

But to be honest I wouldn't pay more money for a faster then 8/1 connection. Having a thru speed of 1.8kb would be pretty cool, but really how often are you going to use that. With the 8/1 most torrents are down in a few hrs or over night max, popular tv shows in around 15 mins.

I think of it like a woman.. sure I'd love a C cup, but really how often am I going to get to play with them... and those C chicks know they got what we want which means higher maintenance, so less money in the sky rocket. So I figure settle for the B cup & just tap it a little bit harder.... as for the free 12/1 upgrade, well hey, no ones gonna say no to a free boob job for the mrs.
