nah you can get em with a hard-top which i think is also removable and can be bought in the aftermarket.
yeh man that's the go and just buy the soft top that covers the front seats, good value and keeps you from getting hella burned on the head, trust me on this one!

where abouts did you make your purchase Dave

yeah id get the hardtop more for security and then chuck the soft top on for different occasions. one of my old boys mates is in canvas so ill get him to whip me up something custom like. big 38" muddies, rancho suspension, prolly change the gearbox ratios, and some air lockers, lightforce spotties and then even the government couldn't stop me. mwhahha

I bought new from Mountway Melville, paid around $35K new but you can actually buy cheaper now.

yeah mate i have worked on a few at work. They are pritty decent cars watch out for uni joint problems (specially when you lift them up) and air con problems with the pipes. YOu can get manuals which are very common (maybe PMH is thinking of something else) and you can get the hard tops which come off. The one i worked on and drove was lifted up a fair bit and had big tyres, felt weird to drive because of the short wheelbase was like rear wheel steering or something odd.

ive been scouting around and ill be able to get one not older than 2002 with about 80-100 xxxkms for about 15-18k. and these engines can be run into the ground so not worried about the kms as long as there is good service history.
yeah ive had a lot of experience with 4WD's my dads a fanatic about anything automotive so naturally i followed. (won an award last year for Most Capable 4WD in his club of about 4000 cars) About the modding costs got that covered - i bought some big muddies, spotties and ranchos for my old 4wd before i sold it to buy my WRX, my dads best mates with Mr ARB in kelmscott so good deals there, and im sure people in dads 4WD club have for sale section in their forums. so ill prolly end up spending bugger all after the purchase if i cant get one already equipped.
AntonRX - thanks for the heads up man, whats wrong with the air con? please explain...
Cheers again for everyones input.

One of my good mates has one and is looking to offload as well...
They are a great fun car when offroad and very capable...

If you want to be in it for any longer than 20mins on-road... then prepare to be super uncomfortable... even with the hard-top fitted, they are very uncomfortable and loud while driving at speed... The straight 6 with 5 speed manual is a very strong combination but is by no means fuel efficient...

I wouldnt bother with the hardtop if it is only a weekend vehicle... they security really isnt much better... and it is a pain taking it on and off...

That being said, they are a lot of fun offroad and very capable...
