I have a family farm out in the wheatbelt, and my old wrx went really well on gravel/dirt, only had exhaust + lowered springs. At the end of the day its meant to be thrashed, so go for it.. Just make sure you have all windows closed

Dust shouldn't be going into your turbo if you have a decent air filter on the car.
K&n on cai still managed to eat some dirt and loose 10kw of the turbo. So many people are scared of gravel same rules apply regardless of surface , drive to the conditions and your skill level

I'll use this nugget of information every time I try something daring in the car from now on

Amazing.

I'm just reading through service notes from March this year from the previous owner. One of the things replaced was an Air Filter. Would that be the air filter for the turbo or are their different types of air filters on a car?

I'm quite timid on the road so I think after I get my car nicely tuned at STechnics I'll try and discover some smooth land to play around in.

Maybe book a skid pan day to learn to handle your car, before venturing off road.
I grew up in the wheatbelt, where the pea-gravel lives. Its easy to build momentum in a car off road, not so easy to wash it off if you end up heading in the wrong direction.

This and you'll start to really enjoy what the car can do.

Heh, it's just a reminder that other than the shell, the rally car on tv has very little to do with the one in your shed (assuming factory).

Still great cars though!

Everyone on here should one day take your car out where it belongs...on the dirt.

All the fire trails in WA are made for it and my 2010 hatch was rock solid at normal tarmac speeds with 4 occupants on ball bearing dirt roads. I put on rally armour mud flaps so not a mark the duco!

Took me 6 hours to clean the car back to new inside and out though

When I lived down in Lakelands a couple of years ago I used to take an offroad shortcut home every day from work, it's a shitload of fun sliding around on dirt and gravel haven't done it in a while though since I've become older (wiser?) and more responsible...
