Default Testing out your WRX

Has anyone modified their WRX for some off-road action? I don't mean 4WD I just mean a nice gravel or sand road. It is supposed to be their prime ground, being rally cars and all...

I wouldn't mind finding a nice graveled section of land if I wasn't such a pansy about my paint work. MY00 and still looks brand new haha!

So yeah just want to know if anyone likes putting on some stock tyres and taking their rex out to a special spot

Cheers

any car can hit up the gravel, its a little risky unless your prepared to spend the money to fix it up.
try a bitumen surface first, its a little more rewarding, plus there are facilities ready to go.

Pull the ABS fuse out first.

I put my stock tyres on and go round barbagello.
If you wanna play on gravel, go hire a rally car for the day. Its cheaper than the excess youll play when the car is wrapped around a tree

its not that dangerous if you are sensible, but even if you don't crash it will still destroy your car eventually.A little bit of dust sucked into the turbo will ruin that and the gravel will tear chunks out of the tyres and wedge rocks in the bead if you do doughnuts also eventually bend your rims .Plus the couple of hours cleaning afterward. ON the other hand a big sloppy muddy puddle of gravel is fun and your car could look this awesome afterwards

Yeah I knew there would be issues over prolonged use. Taking out the ABS fuse haha that sounds like fun :P

I suppose strapping on some mud flaps and some stock tyres / rims would be the go. A little bit of dust sucked into the turbo and that's it? That doesn't sound like very good engineering for a rally car :/

I'm not talking about heavy off-road activity, just merely driving through some sand and water to produce the sexy effect of tarmac's photo

Would be interesting to know how casual you could keep your off road activities without causing major damage over time.

Thanks for the input peeps

Remember it's a road car with rally car heritige.

Dust shouldn't be going into your turbo if you have a decent air filter on the car.

Pulling the ABS fuse is so you stop in a shorter distance - ABS on gravel leads to increased braking distances when compared to non ABS.
