There is only so much settings you can change but I tend to use the "Spot meter exposure ON" its the rectangle with the dot icon
And aim it towards the front where headlight beam cuts off

Has anyone discovered a way to connect an external mic to a GoPro Hero 1?
Or am I going to have to go buy a new Hero3...

Found this

GoPro User Forum • View topic - How to connect an external microphone to a GoPro

Looks like a PITA, but all depends if you are keen on experimenting Vs forking out for a new toy.

Just get a hero 2. Can get them so cheap and are better than the hero 3 except for the black. My mate has a 3 white and it sucks compared to my 2.

Do you think the 3 black edition is worth the money Russ? I'm wanting to get one for next winter and any other little holiday/work shenanigans i get up to. If the 2 is still pretty good I might just go with one of those.

I think it must be mate. The thing that turned me off the 3 though is my mates white edition. It suffered from the cold badly. It took bad film and wouldnt turn on when cold. I would hope the black is better but not sure?

Personally I found the video from my 2 awesome! Its so clear on my TV. And the black records at higher resolution so you will burn through SD cards faster.

What I did with my 2 was run a dive housing. The flat face one and the powder fell off it perfectly when boarding.

Hope that helps.

We've got a black edition... I've not used any other of the 3's so i cant compare but if you want i could take some footage and chuck it on youtube or send you the file for comparison

Is all of your snow footage from a 2? Yeah burning through SD cards isn't what i really want, and as long as it still has great picture i'm not fussed. I guess i'll use it for snow/work/car stuff in future anyway. Cheers for the info mate.
