Ok verdict guys... still learning how to use my 40D.
I took it today at about 1:30pm. I know its not the best time for photos but it was the only chance I got! Feedback appreciated either on here or send me a message!!!

traditionaly its better to take the shot with the face of the rim pointing towards the camera, no one wants to see your tyre tread! nice pic otherwise, clear and not bad composure.
wheel to camera =

^^^ What he said and having a a more neutral background helps as it puts the focus on the car, you could also experiment with wider apertures (f2.8 - f5.6 sort of range) to throw the background out of focus if you are in a less ideal spot.

I had it the other way and I was getting bored of it so I turned it. That shot turned out better than my other one!
That shot was F/4 (lowest available for my 17-85mm) at 20mm, ISO320 and 1/8000 shutter speed and was on the aperture priority setting on my camera. I only had 30mins to take a few photos and I drove around for about 15mins looking for the spot. The other angle has a more neutral background but the camera didnt focus very well when I pressed the button (need a remote release).

Quote:
Shooting from further back with the longer focal length (ie shoot at 80mm instead of 20mm) will possibly help to blur the background. However, even at 80mm, f4 probs aint gona do much. And yeah, as said, turn zee wheels!
