Karlos,

My post was definitely not aimed at the likes of you or Jan... was aimed at all the guys who take iphone/p&S quality pics on an SLR and believe they need to watermark their exceptional work...

gives me a giggle, no more no less...

flickr = getty images = fail in terms of keeping any copyright to yourself. Read the fine print before you sign up (facebook's even worse).

anything to do with getty images, if you decide to delete your account BEFORE you delete your photos, getty images will automatically get the ownership of them.

getty images owns iStock the biggest stock photography website so win win for them

personally i do not post my pics in anything higher than 640x480 (not anymore at least) and do not bother with watermarking it. If someone wants a smaller than a postcard print without my knowledge - you're more than welcome.

also no point taking the piss out of others for putting their watermarks on their photos even if they're still learning the whole slr thing. Unfortunatelly things like photography take time to learn+master and the more you play with it the better you get.

I've gone the same route, changed the galleries on my site to flash and kept the size much smaller than what it used to be. Not ideal and won't suit everyone but best form of protection and should promote more people contacting you for high res versions.

are you back in Perth mate? Panning car pics are my next challenge and wouldn't mind having a quick look how you go about it if you have nothing against a person looking over your shoulder for about 10-15 min?

Well, lucky i put watermarks on my pics as it turns out. Because within 24hours of posting them, ive already had someone take one and use it on their website without permission....

Yeah been back in town for awhile now.

I wouldn't have a problem with it - but unless its something like Collie then the trackdays are closed to the general public. Private shoots I don't do much panning work in (mainly static) and I'd prefer to keep them just that, private.

Next time there is a PWRX trackday though, sure thing.
