^^ My 2c on the above is quite positive...however:

I try to avoid shooting in dark places with one or two light openings (like your doors) as in my personal opinion it distracts the viewer from the subject.

Generally the way I compose photos I think to myself of how I can get a viewer to concentrate on the main subject for longer. That's my opinion, others might see it differently

Went down the beach yesterday evening to test out some Strobist stylez lighting for volleyball action...learnt the hard way that putting a flash stand in front of where the volleyballer will be hitting the ball is a bad idea.

Small images posted here, higher res link if you click the photo or check out the Flickr gallery here.

Cheers Tim, pretty stoked with this as a starting point - definitely room to improve the shots. Next time I will get down just a bit earlier as I was able to kill the ambient much better than I anticipated.

Credit Card details required for the nudes John, unless its nudes of me in which case they are free...you just need years of therapy to recover.

Cheers Dave, this setup was just bare flashes (in keeping with the theme I guess you could say 'nude' flashes). Going to head out again next week and try softbox as mainlight and see how it looks with warming gels added. I'll post those up as a comparison once theyre done.
