No, They aren't a re-tunable ecu. They have a specific tune flashed on to the eeprom for a specific list of mods.
Save your money & find a power Fc or similar.

Any idea what mods work best with this chip? I'm only really aiming for 250-260 tops, fairly conservative I think.

Plus the importer selling it doesn't know what "Stage" the ecu is, Mines did 4 stages of tune for the early WRX. You & your engine are way better off buying a used - live tunable ecu- like an Autronic, Link or PowerFC.
