Default Experiences with Verso

This is a thread for Verso customers to relay their feedback, results and overall experience with the Verso tuning. Since Verso is a new and exciting product, there are more and more threads appearing on Perth-WRX regarding it, so hopefully this will bring it to one spot for discussion, customer feedback and a great place to find information for anyone wanting to Verso tune their car.

I personally run a 2005 WRX and have had 2 Verso dyno tunes.

My last tune consisted of the following engine modifications:
- 816cc Decapped Injectors
- STi TMIC
- 3 Port Boost Solenoid

The aim of this was to see how far I could push the little TD04. Call me crazy, but it makes me happy

I talked to the Verso staff (Pete and Ryan) and Sean from ASG as to what my goals were and the best way to go about them. Through every step of the way everyone was extremely constructive and professional (except when I kept getting told to buy a bigger turbo ).

The tuning process was excellent and netted me an extra 10-15% more torque than my previous tune. I was extremely happy as this was putting me towards my goal of 13.0 quarter mile on a TD04.

On the road test after the tune (to make sure everything was working well), it was noticed that the larger injectors were causing the car to nearly stall when coming to a stop. Pete re-assured me at the time that he would look into this but it may take up to a week to diagnose and correct the problem. How suprised I was when I had a phone call the next day saying the problem had been corrected (and found out that Pete had spent all night working on this for me). Whilst he had been looking over the map to correct the idleing issue, he also cleaned up the map and looked for any possible gains that may have been missed at the tuning time. This extra out of hours service is why I recommend Verso to any person looking for a tune.

I have currently run a 13.1 on this setup (blame the roof racks for slowing me down) yet still maintain a fuel economy of 480-500kms per tank, have a smooth as silk power delivery, perfect stock idle and more power than before.

Anyone else with Verso please post up your comments so the larger population of Perth-WRX can see your feelings on your experience.

Cheers,

John

I have a MY01 WRX which i puchased stock. My plan was to do all my mods, and then get a tune to maximise all the upgrades.

I upgraded:

3" TBE + Up Pipe
STi TMIC + Y-Pipe
APS CAI + Silicone Intake
Walbro Pump

After all those mods, it was running rich and it came on boost very hard, and then kinda lost boost towards the top of the rev range.

Eventually took it to AllStar, had to wait a while, as Sean was tuning someone elses car, got my car on the Dyno about an hour later - Didn't really want him to rush his tunes!

They have a very nice setup and a brand new dyno.

First run yielded a poor 120kW with all my mods due to it running rich. 3 runs later and about 20 minutes, we had it at 165kW and 290Nm on the TDO4 @ 17.5psi.

This was the limit - I need a boost controller to go further apparently.

Took it for a drive afterwards as they do, and it felt nice, real nice. Drove home with a big smile on my face. It definitely felt lilke i had more power, coming on boost nice and clean, and it feels like it punches hard all all the way up the tacho.

Very happy Verso customer here, highly recommend the guys .. top blokes who work absolutely crazy hours!!

Ask if you want to see the dyno graphs.

Hey guys

Again I am another advocate for the verso tune. I had brought my 02 sti to sean with the aim of making as much power as possible with the standard top mount. With just a cold air intake and 3"TBE, 3 port boost control solenoid I am now making 278 ps at the hubs which is a massive improvement.. All the while the car starts fine on cold days and idles qquite smoothly...so thank you sean and all the guys involved with verso....can't wait for more improvements...next up bigger injectors.

Sean at ASG tuned my car using Verso back January 07. I was looking for him to improve what I call the general driveability as she is my DD. The 06 STI is a good car out the box but I was still not happy with the way the boost came on - too late and instead of smooth linear power delivery it was more jerky and a pain to drive in town when traffic is slow. I asked Sean for a nice safe tune but imnproved grunt down low (boost earlier) and smoother delivery of power. He did exactly this and made my car an absollute pleasure to drive compared to before.

I have the dyno graph but in short it improved power to 187 kw from stock of about 160 kw. Torque increased from 320 to 349 Nm. Boost comes on at 2500 rpm as opposed to the stock tune of around 3200 rpm. There has been no noticeable change to the cars cold start, a/c , idle, etc.

I am very happy with the result that these guys at ASG got for me.

worth noting also that my mods are just k&n panel filter and 3" catback only. Sean said if I changed the dump pipe he would get an extra 10-15 kw but to be honest I don't really see the need at this point.

Thanks again Verso and ASG!!

Evo 9

Dead stock on Speedworks dyno - 230hp 330nm.
Turbo back exhaust, K&N panel filter and verso on ASG dyno - 317hp 412nm.

Seeing as ASG dyno reads about 7% lower then SW dyno it's safe to say i've gained an easy 100hp over stock.

My 2 cents:

05 STi

Dead stock with exhaust only = approx. 230hp (Speedworks dyno)

Recently (March 07) still with stock turbo and Verso retune:

Full 3" turbo back exhaust
Apexi panel air filter
1.35bar boost (holds consistently through to redline)
11.6afr with 82% injector duty cycle

= 273hp & 360Nm on ASG's new dyno which reads lower than Speedworks

Very little lag, very few mods, 400-450k's to one tank of fuel and pulls hard to redline - gotta be happy with that!

wow evo with a similar setup has netted nearly 45hp more. is that atw clint ?

If so thats insane!

As for Verso, have a VF22 with FMIC exhaust, filter and some other stuff.

Car Went from 229hp to 274.9 atw.

Boost use to come on around 3800 rpm and now comes on at 3300 and pulls hard all the way too redline.

Car had to be detuned as injectors couldnt cope, will be going back for a retune when i get injectors sorted.

Sean and the guys stayed back till 8pm on a friday night to get it all finished so i could hoon on the weekend.

Know their stuff and Great guys!

group buy on injectors anyone ?

Yes. The standard Evo 8mr and 9 turbo is a decent piece of gear.

Stock AU 9(20psi), JDM 9 (22psi) I run (24.5psi)

AFRs 11.6 where is counts.

One small complaint is that I am still waiting for Launch Control function on MY06 STI. Darren at Verso sent me an email today saying:
"We are close though, just wanted to make sure of a few things before testing"

Not sure what that really means time wise though.

running 275hp atw with hks ssqv and still get 450-470kms a tank

bov is mainly wank factor i guess, but overall affect on economy isnt that much, car runs a tad richer and you get the odd good bang (that sounds wrong) in the tunnel.
