An interesting thread this be.. Much googling I shall do..
FYI Mao from EvolutionR quotes ~ $1100 to fit a TD05 and tune/Dyno your car. Give or take a few $$$ depending on what extra parts you need. fuel pump would cost more etc etc... A very good price from what I've heard. Thanks for the above posts, I personally like the open debate, gives me a lot to think about. teejay have you got any Dyno print outs from your VF30 with FMIC etc?

yeah, once you've had a few different turbo cars, you develop your own preferences
1100 sounds good (not sure if that includes octane booster tho lol), i believe asg do it for 1k without the turbo install i will probably do the turbo install & a few other things myself, should be ording the td06 in the next week or 2 providing i dont buy anything else. |

too responsive for me personally & the hotside would choke the top end - just depends how you like your power delivery.

'too responsive' lol..... yep, now I've heard it all...... Turbo manufacturers spend millions on reducing lag & increasing turbo responsiveness for a reason.
Rob: the EJ255 is all about midrange torque, that turbo will be snappy on your 2.5..... it will be grin inducing. The hot side will choke it? most 20g's come with the 8cm2 housing to avoid excessive back pressure & that flows more than the p25 twin scroll....

I'm not rushing this one, I'm looking into the advice given earlier in this thread. Some of these guys have been on these forums for years, that and modding EJ engines for years. I like the idea of a cheaper TD05-16/18g but it's a tough one.. A VF30 might be a better option, it's almost 1/2 the price of a VF34 and very similar results. Even a VF22 might be worth looking at? Don't get me wrong.. Still looking at TD05 16/18g turbos myself just gotta look at all options. Keen to see how this TD06 goes BTW!!!

A Td0'x' isn't just a td0'x' - there are numerous hotside variants in both td05 & 06. There is no direct correlation between MHI designation and actual physical size of a compressor wheel. G is a style of wheel (uneven height of blades). Blades are equally spaced, but the number and pitch of the blades vary between different versions/models. There are 4 common types of 20G compressor wheel, not including the new billet alloy style wheels from several manufacturers. It's a TD05 Exhaust *turbine* (and they come in about 6 different wheel trims/housing combinations -h,sh,hh,sl,sl2 etc)..... not same/same Housings come in 6cm2, 7cm2 & 8cm2 - again not same/same. TD06 housings come in 8cm2 & 10cm2 only. 'X'cm^2 is referring to exhaust discharge area in the turbine housing. More specifically, it is the smallest cross-sectional nozzle area of the scroll in the turbine housing. Very similar to Garrett turbo's A/R. The smaller number means faster spool-up but more back pressure at higher rpm. They are not all same/same & power potential over the entire TD05 range is very broad.
