House > modified dak dak

forde 19-08-2012 08:06 PM

Im going to to regret my current decisions when i come to that realisation.

ImPreSiV 19-08-2012 08:18 PM

meh... you get 1 life and 1 shot at it. Enjoy every bit you can! I've got the house, I've got the car. Sure I've had to make sacrifices along the way to get those things, and I also had a helping hand from my parents to help get us started, but you can do both.

forde 19-08-2012 08:27 PM

Good point. I think I've achieved a lot in terms of modifying a car considering i only just turned 21. It's more a question of when do i need to realise that my priorities need to change.

kid 19-08-2012 08:44 PM

21 still young man.

When i was 21 i still hadn't grown pubes yet.

Bumming off parents for as long as possible= Modded Sti earlier in life which in turn means less inhibitions therefore more fun :D

Plus If you get the house first its like you get an infection where you must try to turn your wrx into an Sti hey kym/brendon? :p

ImPreSiV 20-08-2012 06:22 AM

Lol I had an STI before I had the house Steve

21 I wouldn't be worrying too much. I do think it is very wise to have a 5-10-20 year plan so you achieve something rather than just 'living'.

I'm 31 and I still buy Lego!

Jez 20-08-2012 12:30 PM

R2D2 build = train wreck?

TROLLEY 02-09-2012 11:19 PM

OK, getting the thread back on topic...

My bank account is quite a few hundred dollars lighter, but I'm looking forward to detailing the car (hopefully) next weekend. I just ordered:

Dodo Juice Orange Crush (Panel Pot)

The Dodo Juice waxes are offered in small "panel pots" which are only $13.95. At that price I figured I would give one of them a go before deciding on a bigger pot or a different brand. Just a shame the front of my car is so full of stone chips, it hardly seems worthy of a good polish and wax but meh.

As mentioned the other week, I didn't end up getting the Rota DPT's and new tires due to buying a block of land and starting the building process now (= broke ass nigger). However I am contemplating picking up a set of those G-Max Drift6 rims in gunmetal to keep me going for a while. Hard to pass up for $750 and don't look toooooo shit...

MISSWRXYSTi 02-09-2012 11:48 PM

Should have got an adz pack? Isn't he doing them now? If not adz you should !! Haha

TROLLEY 25-09-2012 07:59 PM

Just need tires and nuts now...

dtrally 25-09-2012 08:02 PM

Does spelling tyres that way mean they're coming from the U.S.A?

TROLLEY 25-09-2012 08:31 PM

I always thought tyres was the American spelling. Seems not. Regardless, can use either spelling without distinction so stfu ;)

Tyres will either be coming from Demontweeks UK or for $400 more, Wheels World which means they'll get on there quicker and won't have to attemtpt two trips in order to transport rims as well as tyres.

American Dave 25-09-2012 08:36 PM

support the locals FTW

TROLLEY 25-09-2012 09:02 PM
support the locals FTW
I usually do. While not a fantastic price for a set of 225/40/18 tyres, I know that if I use John a few times I'm sure at some stage I will get looked after. He probably bumped the price up because I know Denver.

Oh yeh, another thing - the school holidays = new bumper + paint courtesy of Main Roads, and I'm getting the bonnet resprayed at the same time to eliminate the multitude of stone chips :D

Adz 25-09-2012 09:06 PM
Should have got an adz pack? Isn't he doing them now? If not adz you should !! Haha
What's an adz pack? I was in talks with Swissvax about getting some OCDetailing packs but for the price I'm not sure it would have been something people would be keen on.

I've done this car previously and have been in talks about the right/wrong way to do things.

He's getting there - it's half the fun trying to work out how to do it yourself.

Also... if he ruins it I'll just charge accordingly to fix it :P

TROLLEY 25-09-2012 09:11 PM
Also... if he ruins it I'll just charge accordingly to fix it :P
haha. I'm going to hit the bonnet with the machine this weekend to practice. If I fuck it, it's getting reprayed within the fortnight ;)

kid 25-09-2012 09:36 PM

Rims look great Trolley...I know you have been waiting a while to purchase...must be stoked now :)

I was in a similar position and had to endure my stock rims for over a year...was an epic release of glory when i finally got my rims.

Adz 25-09-2012 09:50 PM

Tyres will either be coming from Demontweeks UK
Don't forget to take into account the charges you'll be slugged with once they arrive from Demon Tweeks, especially if coming by sea... none of Demon Tweeks gear is FOB when shipped.

If you want to know more about this, ask Mitch as he is the shipping expert.

Yeh I had thought about that and also the cost of getting the tyres put on the rims and balanced etc. I've decided I'll definitely get them done at Wheels World. It will give me an excuse to get camber bolts and an alignment :D

98kellrs 26-09-2012 07:51 AM

Rims are all kinds of win, I'm not usually a fan of the hatches but I really like this build. Red n' black theme looks awesome!

What's next in the pipework, seat time?

RUSSGT 26-09-2012 08:09 AM

Get tyres from tirerack. Super cheap.

98kellrs 26-09-2012 08:33 AM

Or Westy's? Local and cheap!

Cheers dude. Next is some new brake pads and fresh fluid, then a set of Epic Engineering springs to stiffen it up and drop it an inch. Then hopefully some seat time!
Get tyres from tirerack. Super cheap.
I'm set on sticking with S-Drives as I have them now and really like them. Unfortunately tirerack no longer ship Yoko's to Australia. Demontweeks was only going to cost me $829 for a set, landed
$1396 @ Wheels World, fitted and balanced.

TROLLEY 26-09-2012 11:45 AM

I like the looks of these.... but 250 smackaroos. Can get similar for $100 locally but without locking nuts. Is an extra $150 worth it to get locking nuts? Who's going to steal Rotas?! lol

look at Mcgard's Craig. Come with locking nut too. I bought mine off the forum here (new) for $80
