After a fun week of insurance dealings there has been a silver lining.

I was mis-informed from SGIO about having salvage on the car, so the assessor there recommended I get the car looked at/assessed by the at fault parties insurance - AAMI.

I organised a tow at my own expense to get the car to the AAMI assessment yard, but due to unforeseen circumstances the car had to be left at my place for 1 day while the tow truck had other jobs - project #backtostock commenced with the help of a mate.

Car was delivered to AAMI in standard form for assessment.

Spoke to the assessor yesterday, and because of the low kms and cleanliness of the car, he agreed on a payout figure of 11.5k - winning.

Said they were awaiting an estimate from the scrapyard as to a buy back figure - as with AAMI I have the option to purchase the wreck back. Initial estimate was ~2k, which i was happy to take as the gearbox, engine, brakes etc would add up to way more.

Will be buying the car back at this stage.

Currently being towed to my place now and I will be tearing the rest of it apart in the next few weeks.

So in closing, massive fuck around but a silver lining means that I can now jump into a clean, low km 05 STI and bolt all my mods to it.

Figured this could do with an update due to some recent developments..

After a few months of waiting and viewing a few cars, I still wasn't keen on any that I found.

After seeing a black late 05 STI pop up on a Facebook group, and just shy of 10 tags I went to view and test drive the car.....

Then picked it up the next day...

The good;
-92000 kms
-mint interior
-very well looked after exterior/paint
-minor work done
-perfect platform for me to build on

The bad;
-It's black and it doesn't live in a fully enclosed garage

Luckily I live with a gentleman who specializes in keeping cars clean.

Mods are currently minor - Inlet, 3" X-Force TBE, Hot Air intake, obnoxious BOV, Full Chargespeed kit and a rather laggy tune for a VF35.

My plans consist of essentially swapping all my old goodies onto the car, new rather serious fuel setup, head-studs and get it on a dyno.

Car will be treated to;

-PW FMIC (blacked out cooler and piping)
-PW 72mm Cold Air
-Perrin Inlet and SFB
-Blouch back on
-Headers back on
-Raceworks Surge Setup - single 460 in tank and 1 in the surge
-Fuel Rails and FPR
-ID1500's or bigger
-Braided Teflon front to back
-ARP 11mm Headstuds
-Powered by corn

Aiming for more stealth this time round - blacked out engine bay, sensible height and wheel fitment with close to 400 WHP.

Chargespeed kit - side skirts and rear spats will be coming off, as will the daft wheel spacers currently fitted.

Will be on the hunt for some nice Jap wheels, the world of 5x114.3 is great for such a plan.

REVNURAZR plates will be going to keep with this theme (finally got tired of a target on my back and matured a bit)

Here are some lousy pics, will snap some more when I get home after it's had a fresh detail and the headlights have been corrected...

Installed the Koyo today as I was bored, black hoses are on order, the old ones were in poor condition so they were turfed.

Maybe a thread re-name is in order...

"Once You Go Black"

"Back in Black"

etc

I'll leave that up to the disgresion of the Mods

xoxo

This is going to be a very nice package once you're done putting your fun bits on. Looking forward to seeing it come along
