Are the V3/V4 JDM STi ECU tuned for a higher octance than 98? Maybe some ping-ping at the drags and then game over?

Have you got an official diagnosis? Was it ECU, N/A pump, bad motor? I've read since pg 40 and its not clear.

Also, did you go over the pits to update the Dep Transport for the modification to your car? What was involved?
I won't be giving up, other plans have been made and I should be back on the road by next month

There is no way to determine what exactly made the engine go pop until it is taken apart, and whether it is faulty work or just a fucked halfcut I don't care and I will be continuing to get work done on this car, and I didn't have to go over the pits as the engine was still a 2.0l so I just did a change of engine number form(which I have now misplaced )

I'm not to sure but I'd imagine they wouldn't run on anything higher then 98 from factory.

JDM computer is designed to run 100 octane but they handle 98 without a problem, mine's still going strong after 8yrs and quite a few track days, WAW's and many a good thrashings on my friends private roads
Cat likes this.

The new plan is I will not be taking it back to that workshop ever again and some very very Awesome people have offered to help me with an engine change, So the car will be hard parked in my backyard for the next month and I will be getting my hands dirty and learn how to take it apart ( and somehow put it back together)

I'll be dropping the oil and coolant this weekend and get it ready and while the engine is out I will be cleaning every nook and cranny, polish the engine bay and paint the manifold red again...... I'm looking forward to this and I will be taking lots of pictures
